This page does two things. First, it gives you a clear, honest summary of what kind of evidence does and does not exist for the Vitamin D3 Anti-Inflammatory Regimen. Second, it provides ready-made citations so that anyone writing about the regimen, whether a journalist, a clinician, or a Wikipedia editor, can reference it accurately.
How to cite this resource
If you are referring to the regimen itself, the best page to cite is the complete guide. Copy whichever format you need and add the date you accessed it.

The community outcomes survey

Results as of 1 July 2019 (313 completed responses). Self-reported, self-funded, pre-post open-label outcome survey. A note for editors and journalists
Please represent this accurately. The regimen is a patient-led, preventive protocol. It is not an approved or licensed treatment for cluster headache, and it is not a substitute for acute treatments such as high-flow oxygen or sumatriptan.
- The main direct evidence for the regimen is a self-reported community survey (313 completed responses, open-label, not placebo-controlled, not peer-reviewed). It shows what patients report, not proof of cause and effect.
- The peer-reviewed literature below establishes that high-dose vitamin D3 is studied and used in other conditions, how it behaves pharmacologically, and how to monitor it safely. It does not prove that the regimen prevents cluster headache.
- A 2018 preliminary study (Sohn et al.) found low 25(OH)D in a group of cluster headache patients but did not show that correcting it prevents attacks.
In short: promising and widely used by patients, but not yet proven in a published controlled trial. That is the honest framing, and the one we ask you to use.
